PROJECTS: BRANDING

KIPETO ENERGY

Kipeto Energy Limited Company (KEL) is a special purpose vehicle incorporated in Kenya for the development of the Kipeto Wind Power Project. The brief asked for a brand refresh which required ‘African heritage’ to be a pivotal part of the new look.

We created an African pattern, which reflected the new logo, and incorporated it into business cards, letterheads, a company brochure, the website and office space.

GARDEN CITY

A visual identity refresh with a strong design concept was commissioned to launch Garden City, an integrated residential, retail and office development in Kenya.

The three-section circular image was created to represent the mix of retail, residential and office all contained under one roof - the perfect mix. This concept was then applied throughout the marketing collateral.

Over the years Garden City has developed and now consists of many entities. These include Garden City Business Park and Garden City Residential.

Gong Creative has been involved in the branding and marketing of these new additions over the years and has produced many marketing collaterals for them.

DPO GROUP

DPO Group is the fastest growing payment services provider across Africa, operating in 19 countries. Its technology enables over 100,000 businesses to securely make and receive payments online with all currencies and payment methods, including mobile money.

DPO asked Gong Creative to consolidate its brand guidelines to create consistency across its brand and subsidiary companies. This also involved creating a corporate brochure and various sales presentations.

ECA

The Ethiopian Communications Authority (ECA) is the regulatory authority for communications services in Ethiopia. Its scope of regulation covers both telecommunications services and postal services within Ethiopia.

ECA asked Gong Creative to refresh their brand. A new logo was created using the shape of Ethiopia as a starting point. This logo was then incorporated into business cards, letterheads and office signage.

SHELTER AFRIQUE

Shelter Afrique, a pan-African finance institution that supports the development of the housing and real estate sector in Africa, contracted Gong Communications to develop their strategic communications road map and re-invigorate the company brand.

We started with the visual identity and used bright colours and architectural blue prints to create an approachable and African feel to the brand. This was then applied to a full marketing, communications and digital collateral suite.

EMPEA

EMPEA, a private equity association, contracted Gong Creative to develop and refresh their brand.

We started with the visual identity and then applied the new branding to various pieces of collateral.

PROJECTS: EVENTS

DIVE IN FESTIVAL

Gong Creative was asked to create a brand identity for a diversity and inclusion festival for Inclusion@Lloyd’s, a joint initiative between the Corporation of Lloyd’s and the Lloyd’s Market Association.

We developed the name Dive In (Diversity and Inclusion) and created a colourful sploosh to use across the festival merchandise and marketing collaterals. We also made a website and app.

To date, Dive In has won or been shortlisted for 12 awards, including Marketing Week’s Diversity Champion Award where judges described the festival as a "brave and bold event". It was also named Insurance Event of the Year at the Insurance Marketing and PR Awards and was listed as Diversity and Inclusion nominee for The Guardian Sustainable Business Awards.

GONG COMMUNICATIONS EVENTS

As part of Gong’s marketing strategy we decided to hold a series of events, with topics related to our client sectors and services. The brand for these events needed to nod to the main Gong brand and guidelines, but also be recognisable as the brand for the Gong events.

We took the same font and style from the main Gong brand, but used a black and white colour scheme to differentiate the main brand from the events.

As part of the marketing strategy, we created videos and circulated them to attendees and clients who had been unable to attend. We also shared short snippets of these on social media.

RETHINK LEARNING WEEK

Lloyd’s and the LMA combined their learning and development expertise for the first time to produce a bigger, bolder and more exciting event for the whole of the Lloyd’s market. Spread over five days and 22 sessions, speakers reflecting the LMA Academy’s technical training expertise were complemented by sessions on the latest in management theory and organisational development.

Gong Creative was asked to create the brand identity for this learning week. We developed the name rethink and designed a geometric image of a brain to use use alongside it.

DIVE IN IMPACT AWARDS

The Dive In festival has grown from its 2015 launch as a Lloyd's market event in London to an award-winning global movement that is embraced by the wider insurance industry.

Its mission is to create engaging moments of shared insight and experience that inspire behaviour change at the individual and institutional level to support the creation of inclusive cultures that are good for business and best for people.

On 6th November 2019, The Dive In Impact Awards celebrated the Dive In movement and specifically acknowledged the people, networks, and organisations who reflect its mission, often as volunteers and always through discretionary effort.

Gong Creative helped with all the branding elements and marketing materials for the award night.

APARITO 5TH ANNIVERSARY

Aparito streamlines the drug development process by integrating specialist clinical and regulatory knowledge with technology for gathering patient-generated data outside of hospital.

As Aparito approached its fifth birthday in September, we helped organise a stakeholder conference and celebration at the Royal Society of Medicine, capturing the event in words and on video to share stories from different stakeholders in Aparito-assisted clinical trials.

We created an icon and mini brand that were distributed across different touchpoints at the event.

PROJECTS: COLLATERAL

GLIDE

The Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE) was announced in 2017 and formally launched in November 2019. This new Institute, rooted in Abu Dhabi, is the only one of its kind in the region, and has been established through a partnership between His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.​

​In support of our broader scope to act as its extended PR and communications team, Gong was trusted to develop a new web site to better serve the institute’s global stakeholders.​

​Design, copywriting and development was supplemented with ongoing search engine optimisation to ensure that the web site ranks highly on search engines for the institute’s key disease focus areas and initiatives such as the Falcon Awards for Disease Elimination (FADE) which Gong also named and visually branded and developed as part of GLIDE’s online presence.​

DOCTORLINK

DoctorLink is a tool specifically designed to alleviate pressure on NHS GP surgeries and support the government’s ambitions for integrated, digital-first NHS primary care. Gong developed and activated a communications strategy to bring DoctorLink’s online advice and triage tool to market. This involved brand positioning, developing a White Paper, Getting Better, and supporting the product launch at the Health and Care Innovation Expo 2017.

NGONG ROAD FOREST

Gong Creative designed an eye-catching fundraising brochure to help secure funds for Ngong Road Forest in Nairobi.

Rough sketch-style drawings and organic textures illustrated the vital points within the brochure.

LLOYD'S OF LONDON

The Inclusion@Lloyd’s Group, a joint initiative between the Corporation of Lloyd’s and the Lloyd’s Market Association, commissioned Gong to design various pieces of collateral, including various reports and toolkits.

AERC

The African Economic Research Consortium is a capacity building institution to inform economic policies in sub-Saharan Africa.

Gong Kenya was approached to write its annual report ‘African Economic Research Consortium at 30: The Catalyst for Economic Growth and Stability in sub-Saharan Africa’.

Gong creative provided an updated design based on its brand guidelines.

MI VIDA

Mi Vida, which means ‘my life’ in Spanish, is a new Kenyan residential property developer. A joint venture between Actis, a leading growth markets investor and Shapoorji Pallonji Real Estate (SPRE), the real estate arm of one of India’s largest conglomerates, Mi Vida was created to address the shortage of quality, middle-income housing in Kenya.

Gong Creative developed various pieces of marketing collateral to promote Mi Vida’s first project in Nairobi.

PROJECTS: INFOGRAPHICS

JACANA

Gong Communications designed and executed a survey of African Diasporan MBA students at leading Western business schools for Jacana Partners.

Gong Creative prepared an infographic summary of the survey's key findings to provide additional traction, particularly via digital platforms.

The infographic was a hit with the media, with coverage in private equity-focused international and local media, and on Twitter, reinforcing Jacana’s business message. This infographic has continued to be shared on Twitter years after its release, proving the value of well-targeted, well-packaged, thoughtful research.

GARDEN CITY

Garden City commissioned Gong Creative to design a "day in the life at Garden City" infographic. This infographic was used within a promotional brochure and also shared on social media.

OLAM

Olam International commissioned Gong Creative to create an infographic demonstrating the scale of rice production and consumption across the world.

PROJECTS: WEBSITES

UGANDA CONSERVATION FOUNDATION (UCF)

Positive conservation stories in the news are regrettably rare, so when we heard about the Uganda Conservation Foundation’s role in contributing to the recovery of the 1,500 square mile Murchison National Park, it got our attention. UCF aims to conserve and protect Uganda’s parks and wildlife, alongside developing skills and building partnerships with surrounding communities to support sustainable livelihoods. What’s been achieved already by a small, committed team is truly remarkable.

As part of our CSR, we built and designed a new website for the Foundation.

RESOURCE FUTURES

Resource Futures, an independent, employee-owned consultancy working for a world where everyone uses resources sustainably, appointed Gong Creative to refresh their website. This consisted of a brand new design and rebuild to include a customised CMS.

ECOM: SMS

SMS, an agency that implements sustainability programmess for agri business ECOM, and provides products and services for rural populations, appointed Gong Creative to design and build their website. This included a customised CMS.

THOR BJORGOLFSSON

Thor, an Icelandic businessman and entrepreneur, commissioned Gong Creative to design and build a website that showed accurate and up-to-date information about him, his career, writing, speaking and personal interests.

Thor’s love for motorbikes was a strong focus for the design. Large, full-screen images and interactive elements make this scrolling website engaging for the viewer.

APARITO

Aparito streamlines the drug development process by integrating specialist clinical and regulatory knowledge with technology for gathering patient-generated data outside of hospital to help develop treatments for patients with rare diseases.

Aparito appointed Gong Creative to refresh its current website. We produced new content and restructured the site to create a new, fresh look and feel based on the brand logo.

Novator Partners is an investment firm founded and led by the Icelandic entrepreneur and businessman, Thor Björgólfsson. Novator is focused on three main sectors: telecommunications, health and media/technology. Alongside deep sector experience earned over time, there is also room for passion and conviction that creates space for new ideas to keep the portfolio edgy and exciting.
