20th May 2022.
Background
Køpe is the solo project curated by 21 year old Peter Whelan. Hailing from Mullingar, the singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has recently moved to Co. Dublin to pursue his music career.
What is ‘Køpe’?
Wishing to escape from reality when writing music, Peter figured an alias was the best option to explore his horizons; a stage name with sincere meaning. Køpe, (Pronounced ‘Cope’) embodies each member of Peter’s family. (‘K’ for his dad Kevin and so on).
Embracing melodic pop whilst combining reflective lyrics with a soulful and distinctive voice, Køpe imbues the personal with a universality that is simultaneously both vulnerable and powerful; contrasting gentleness with defiance.
With the excitement of his upcoming release, he has managed to secure support slots throughout the summer in Dublin; Kicking off in Whelan’s on May 8th supporting ‘Jordan Run’, the native Cork band.
