Michigan Wrestling team 101 - ushering in the next hundred years

The Michigan Wolverines are set to begin their 2022-23 Wrestling Season on Saturday, November 5th.

Season 2022-23 tickets are available now! See the reigning Big Ten Champs and NCAA runners-up in action this season and get ready to see the best wrestling in the nation right here in Ann Arbor when Michigan hosts the Big Ten Championships - March 4th & 5th.

On October 15th, the Michigan wrestling & Cliff Keen Wrestling Club alumni, families, coaches and athletes gathered to rally for the upcoming season and honored Team 100 and last seasons tremendous success.

The roar of the Big House for TEAM 100!

Cliff Keen Wrestling Club president Mark Churella announced that Olympic gold medalist, longtime USA Wrestling Greco-Roman national coach and Michigan alum Steve Fraser will join the CKWC staff as the Chief of Donor and Alumni Relations

“After graduating from the University of Michigan 42 years ago, I truly am thrilled to come full circle and be back in a position to help my alma mater’s Cliff Keen Wrestling Club,” said Fraser. “Coach [Sean] Bormet, his strong coaching staff and amazing athletes have made all of us alumni very proud with Michigan’s recent successes. I’m grateful to have an opportunity to be a part. Go Blue!”

What a remarkable turnout!

Will Lewan has been selected to participate in the National Wrestling Coaches Association's 54th All-Star Classic. The event is slated for Sunday, Nov. 22, in Austin, Texas, and will be streamed live on FloWrestling.

Former University of Michigan wrestling head coach Joe McFarland will be inducted into the Michigan Wrestling Association (MWA) Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 5

McFarland, also a member of the Michigan Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, retired in 2018 after 19 years at the helm of the Michigan program. He guided U-M to a 214-105-6 record, three Big Ten dual titles and 11 top-10 NCAA finishes and coached 31 different student-athletes to five NCAA individual titles, 60 All-America citations and 19 Big Ten individual crowns.

As a Michigan wrestler, he was a four-time All-American and two-time NCAA finalist and posted a 166-24-4 career record.

Michigan alumni Mike Amine has been named the 2022 recipient of the prestigious Ufer Award, presented annually since 1981 by the Letterwinners M Club in recognition of outstanding service to the University of Michigan Athletic Program. He will be honored at the organization's fall tailgate on Saturday, Nov. 12, before the Nebraska football game inside the Hall of Honor at Crisler Center.

Cliff Keen Wresling Club's J'Den Cox was the 92kg silver medalist at the World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia on Sept. 17th, 2022.

Michigan alum Stevan Micic also captured the 57kg bronze world medal.

2x NCAA champion Nick Suriano will continue his senior-level freestyle career with the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club.
