We have had an excellent first week of school! Thank you to everyone who attended our orchestra open house last weekend. If you weren't able to make it, we will be sending home materials with your child on Friday.
All Faubion Orchestra students will need to complete our Faubion Orchestra Forms and Fees. Fees may be paid online or in person with cash or check. If you choose the cash/check option, please place payment in an envelope and mark your child's first and last name on the envelope and what the payment is for. Students will then place these in the safe in the orchestra room. If you have any questions about forms or fees, please contact Mrs. Zamora.
Orchestra Students will need some basic orchestra supplies for class. Here is a list of Beginning Orchestra Supplies. Here is a list of Upper Level Orchestra Supplies. If students are missing something, we do have a few extras for sale at school or you can purchase them at Dallas Strings in Allen. Payment for orchestra books, tuners, or shoulder rests should be cash or check payable to Faubion orchestra. Please place payment in an envelope marked with your child's first and last name so that they can place this in the safe in the orchestra room.
The Faubion Orchestra uses Google Calendar for events, concerts and activities. Click this link to access the calendar and then click the "+google calendar" to add it to your google calendar account. We also display this calendar on our orchestra website as well as paper calendars given to the students. Please check the orchestra website frequently for updates and the new latest information. New this year--all orchestra families will get one new calendar magnet provided by the Faubion Orchestra Boosters.
Private lessons are going to begin the week of August 22. If you have signed up for lessons, information (teacher name, lesson day, teacher contact information) will be sent in an e-mail to you. There are still a few openings in some classes. If you are interested, fill out this lesson specific form here. If you have already signed up for lessons on the main orchestra forms, you do not need to sign up again. Lessons are a great way for students to gain confidence and move often at a faster pace than the class.
We will be having a back to school orchestra social at Pinstack Allen on September 7 from 5:30-7:30 pm. This is an optional event, but if students are interested, they need to turn in $20 cash (exact change) in an envelope marked with their first and last name and "Pinstack" to the orchestra safe no later than August 31. (Please pay at least half of your orchestra fees before turning in Pinstack money). This $20 includes unlimited laser tag, bowling, bumper cars, rock climbing, non-prize arcade games, ropes course, pizza, mozzerella sticks, and lemonade or powerade. This event is for Faubion Orchestra students only. Parents are welcome to hang out as well--we would love to have you! If you want to play along and do the attractions as well, please include an additional $20.
Thank you to the many families that have donated items to the Faubion Orchestra. These donations go directly to student in class use and we consider every item a treasured supply that will be utilized by many students in our classroom. If you would like to donate any items, here is the wishlist link.
The Faubion Orchestra has a Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok account for fans/parents of the orchestra to follow. We encourage parents to follow us on these sites. This not anything that is required for any students as we realize many students do not have social media accounts--and that is okay! You can also contact us at kzamora@mckinneyisd.net bberens@mckinneyisd.net or 469-302-6699. Please note that our phone number rings directly to voicemail, so leave a message and we will call you back after school hours.
