Year 1 have started their Science topic all about animals including humans. This week, our learning focused on the human body. On Monday we had a go at labelling body parts. With help from our friends, we traced around their body and labelled the body parts on a gigantic bit of paper!
On Tuesday, the children focused more on the details on their face. We used mirrors to identify all the parts on our face and had a go at drawing and labelling our face!
On Wednesday, we ran an experiment to predict who had the biggest size feet. After we made our predictions, we measured each others feet with cubes in small groups to see if we were correct!
On Thursday, we had a brilliant lesson! We got to go on a 5 senses walk that included us tasting, smelling, feeling, hearing and seeing some very fun things! I wonder if you can tell by our faces which ones were not the nicest…
In English, the children have been practising writing labels, lists and captions! This week we had a go writing our own shopping list, a favourite animal list, a to-do list and we labelled a character that we created using AI!
In Maths, some of us have been practising writing numbers super neatly as well as counting a given number of counters and taking 1 away to figure out 1 less! We have also been improving our cutting skills by cutting out leaves, acorns and squirrels to stick on an oak tree.
Well done Year 1 for a fabulous week!
