WHY NOW?
Each year on 25 April, we raise our voices on World Malaria Day to call for urgent global action in the fight against malaria, which kills a child every minute. Each year, we rally around a theme, and each year we make as much noise as we can to highlight the heavy cost of malaria -- to lives and livelihoods -- and the incredible opportunities the world would see through ending it. But each year, progress continues to stall.
No more excuses. It's time to deliver.
This year, it's time to deliver. We're running out of time and funds to turn the tide against this deadly disease. Malaria, we're coming for you. We won't let you steal from us anymore.
After years of lagging funding, the slow but steady increase in malaria cases and deaths is a warning sign -- it's critical we get back on the path to elimination before itโs too late. Emerging drug and insecticide resistance as well as climate change threaten to wipe out the last two decades of progress. Malaria will be saved by the bell.
It's now or never.
We need governments to invest in innovation and tools to fight the disease as well as ensuring those tools get to the people who need them most. We need commitment to the goal: reduce malaria cases and deaths by 90% by 2030. To get malaria on the ropes and reach the final round, we must act now.
