Dear DAVians,
Greetings of the day!
Water is an essential building block of life. Approximately 70% of our blue planet is made up of water, as is 60% of our body. Water is invaluable to our health, food, culture, environment, and cities.
However, Earth's water is a finite resource. Less than 3% of this is freshwater, while the rest is saltwater found in oceans and seas. Further, most of the freshwater is frozen in glaciers, ice caps, or in deep underground aquifers. Only less than 1% of Earth's water is freshwater that is easily accessible for fulfilling our needs.
रहिमन पानी राखिये, बिन पानी सब सून।
पानी गये न ऊबरे, मोती, मानुष, चून॥
So water conservation is the need of the hour. By managing our water sustainably, we can better manage our production of food and energy and contribute to decent work and economic growth. Moreover, we can preserve our water ecosystems, their biodiversity, and take action on climate change.

The global campaign Be the change encourages people to take action in their lives to change how they use, consume and manage water. These promises from individuals and communities will contribute to the Water Action Agenda alongside larger commitments from governments, companies, organizations, institutions, and coalitions.
