It really did start to look a bit like Christmas this week.Trees were up, lights were on and Chris came to tell us a Winter story. It was so lovely, lots of the class followed the story, were engaged and could follow the repeating pattern of the story. We remembered the order, and joined in with the actions. Chris asked us if we would be able to tell our family the story, I think most of us will at least know some parts of it, well done.
Ordering and recognising numbers in the outdoor classroom. Working collaboratively ensured that the class were able to reason and explain their knowledge and understanding.
Developing stories and writing a Christmas list. We applied our phonics knowledge, sounded out unfamiliar words and then looked for the correct letter, as well as developing our actual physical skills for writing.
The classroom has had a make over, we are getting used to different areas to learn and play in. Zones have been created to develop the children’s learning. We think that the class were shave enjoyed using the new areas as well as playing and building new relationships with new friends with similar interest.
As usual, the outdoor area is always a great place to play, enjoy a bigger space, develop resilience and build new friendships. Well done Reception.
We learnt about a famous female scientist called Marie Curie. She was a pioneer in science at a time when women were not encouraged to be educated. She helped develop new medicines and radioactivity. We watched a short video to support our learning. We also made our own x ray pictures. We thought it was funny when we had to work out which parts of the body were shown in the X ray pictures.
