This week we were producing our own fable comic strip. Children worked in different groups, drafted their fable and then wrote it up in neat. A lot of time and care went into creating their final version and you can see a photo of them on Seesaw.
Music: Chord progression
The class continued their work on the glockenspiels to learn different chords. First, they orally rehearsed the sounds. Then they played the chords on the glockenspiels. And as a final challenge, the children listened to chords being played on the glockenspiels and had to draw the progression on the iPad!
PE: Dodgeball
Both PE lessons this week, the children focused on dodgeball. We completed different drills to practice skills, such as dodging and catching. After this, the class played some larger games.
History: The Stone Age
For our history lesson this week, we started our story about the Stone Age. This is using drama for learning as a way to engage everyone in the learning. We’ve started off in the Palaeolithic period, on a bit of land between the UK and mainland Europe called Doggerland. Due to the ice sheet melting and the sea level rising, we have had to leave our current settlement. We will have to wait until next week to find out where we settle next!
Science: Rocks
For our first science lesson this week, the children investigated the different properties of rocks. There were five different stations to test different qualities; name and type, hardness, water, vinegar and appearance. They used lots of different types of equipment to help with this, such as a magnifying glass and pipets. The next lesson, the children wrote their table up in their books.
We continued with categorising different rocks in the following lesson. We used a Venn diagram to visually compare the rocks based on a specific quality. After, we played a game of trying to pick the best rock for different things, like a kitchen counter! The class have got really good at recognising different rocks.
