Kelsy's Portfolio Semester 1

About me

I am not originally from Colorado. I moved from Texas to here in 2018, because my dad got a new job that we had to move for. I like to do many things, therefore I have many hobbies. I go skiing any chance that I can get, because I love to do it, even though it is very cold. I go with friends and family because having others to ski with is way better than skiing by yourself. I played softball my eighth grade year for Craver, and then I played on a club team that summer. That was the first time that I ever played softball and absolutely loved it. I wish I could've played longer, but there was not a team at Rye High School. I have played basketball almost my entire life and still am playing it to this day. I started playing volleyball in sixth grade and still play it today. I just started competing in golf for Rye. The last one of my hobbies is riding horses. I rode a horse before I could even walk. I love my horse that I have now but I miss my first horse. She was so sweet and so caring, even though she bucked me off a couple of times I got right back on. My experience in photography is not very long. When I was little I would always take selfies of myself but I would never just go outside and take pictures of the sky or anything. I just started taking pictures a couple of years ago when I realized that if you take pictures in that moment you can always go back and look them up, and see what it was like in that moment.

Conceptional Self Portraits

Basketball n' Volleyball

My goal for this image is to get just the right angle of the ball and making sure it is in the net to combine both sports into one. The dynamic for this photo was to see if volleyball and basketball would look good together in one image and that's what's so unique about this image, and it is in the Rye High School main gym.

Grand Landscape Photos

Mountain Landscape

My goal for this image is to get an overlook of the valley. You can see almost every single detail in this image, and you can also see all the white fluffy clouds in the clear blue sky.

Shadows

Basketball hoop

My goal for this image is to the the lighting in just the right spot so it will show off a shadow in the background. You can only see the bottom of the basketball net but the lighting is hitting the image at just the right angle to show off the shadow in this photo.

Macro Mode Images

Ring

My goal for this image is to get as close as I can, because the object is so small that I have to get as close as I can to make it look bigger than it really is. Zooming in as close as you can, lets you make the object look life size.

Toy Photos

Rye Volleyball

My goal for this image is to show off the R for Rye, without having the ball on the ground. Getting this object not to roll off allows me to get as much of the object in the picture as possible. This volleyball has been used before, but that is what makes it pop.

Photography Business

Red Sunset

My goal for this image was to take the photo at just the right time that it looks like there is a cross in the background and the sky is pure red. This kind of sunset doesn't happen very often for someone to get this good of a picture.

Choice

Sun

My goal for this image was to get the sun to blur out the rest of the background so it is just the sun for the main focus. It takes awhile to get the background blurred out fo the sun to be the main object in this photo.

Lighting

Going with the flow

My goal for this image is to get the light shining in just the right spot for the river to lead to that light. In the beginning it is darker but towards the end of the picture, where the river is leading to, it is brighter.

Choice

Relaxing chair

My goal for this image is to get just the right angle of the chair to make it look comfy enough for someone to sit in. It is under a nicely shaded tree, so if the sun is too bright you can sit in the chair and it won't be that bright. If someone were to sit in this chair when it is very hot hot outside, they would be nice and shaded without the sun hitting them.

Photography Business

Mountain water

My goal for this image is to get the focal point on the water, with the mountains in the background. Getting this much water for the main focal point allows me to still have some room to fit the mountains in the background. It looks as though it is about to rain in this picture so there was not very much light which pulls this picture together.

Choice

Waterfall

My goal for this image is to get the edges of the image brighter than the middle of the image. Doing so allows the waterfall to be the main focal point because it is darker than the edges. You can look at this image and the first thing that you will see is the waterfall because it is darker than the rest of this image.

Choice

Pasture

My goal for this image is to have the sun shining on the pasture just right so there is no focal point. The only focal point in this image is the big post right in the middle of the picture. In this picture you can see the mountains, the house, and the pasture along with the beautiful sky, and there is no main focal point.

Choice

Fire Hydrant

My goal for this image is to make the chains the main object for this image. With the chains as the main objects I had to make the fire hydrant blurry so it could focus on the fire hydrant. The main focus in this image is the top which really pulls this picture together.

Choice

Drowsy leaves

My goal for this image is to get where it is nice and shaded so there is no light on the leaves. You can tell that it is Fall, because of the color of the leaves. The color of the leaves makes them the focal point allowing the leaves to show off in this picture.

Choice

Cross

My goal for this image is to get the cross in the middle of all the lines. Doing so allows me to make the cross the main object for this photo because all the lines are leading to the object. The lines are not only leading to the cross but right in the middle making it look like the cross is giving off the lines.

Favorite Assignment

My favorite assignment this semester was the letters assignment. This was my favorite assignment because when you are just walking around in public you don't realize that there are words trying to speak to you but you don't realize them. When I was doing this assignment, it allowed me to see all the letters, and words that are out there. My progress on this class has improved greatly. I personally think that after having this class showed me that there are many things in everyday life that I didn't see that I can see now. Seeing myself from the very beginning of the year till now, I would say that I truly know how to properly take a photo and make it look better than the original photo.
