About IOBC-WPRS
IOBC-WPRS promotes the use of sustainable, environmental safe, economically feasible, socially acceptable, control-methods of pests and diseases of agricultural and forestry crops. Therefore IOBC-WPRS encourages collaboration in the development and promotion of Biological and Integrated Production systems.
IOBC-WPRS fosters research and practical application, training and information, especially of biological methods of control, but also of all methods, including chemicals, within an integrated pest management context.
IOBC-WPRS elaborates guidelines for integrated production of agricultural crops, develops and standardises methods of testing effects of pesticides on beneficial species.
IOBC-WPRS offers presentation platforms (workshops, symposia, proceedings, publications) to scientists involved in research to improve agricultural crop production using methods and strategies in agreement with overall goal of IOBC. IOBC-WPRS helps implementing scientific knowledge into the advising and executing biological and integrated production. (source: http://www.iobc-wprs.org/index.html)
Expected themes
This event is an opportunity to promote research, development, implementation and training of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) systems in protected crops, and to promote cooperation between scientists, advisors and producers working in this field. Scientific presentation and talk will be combined with social events to encourage discussions between participants and to share ideas and knowledge.
The following themes will be addressed at the symposium:
- New natural enemies, new pests
- Food supplementation
- Role of the plant in IPM (induced and/or genetic plant resistance, plant nutrition)
- Biocontrole: (1) Research impact: adoption rate (% growers using, why, why not, economic approaches); (2) Microbes (biopesticides, biostimulants)
- IPM and environment (light etc.)
- Microbiotes around roots, plants or parasites which help plants to defend themselves
- Phenotypes

Brittany and Brest
From the website of the tourism office of Brest
Brest, the city of the Ponant, has always been open to the world, thanks to its maritime activity, and is rich in intense and fascinating history. Discover this ocean capital, where the city and the sea are one. Here, heritage is shared, the sea is experienced, art is transformed... and everything is easy!
Brest harbour
Brest's maritime vocation is undoubtedly due to its geographical position on the Brest roadstead. A large expanse of water protected from currents by the Pointe de Roscanvel, the bay is a great playground for nautical activities, as well as scallop fishing. It forms a rugged coastline of coves and headlands, offering exceptional panoramic views from land or sea.
Arty and historic Brest
Unique and atypical in its position as the "end of the world" on a promontory overlooking the sea, Brest is also unique in its many cultural facets. In a single day, you can visit the remains of the Second World War, walk to a contemporary art exhibition and contemplate works of street art along the way... and in the evening, take in a show on one of France's leading national stages. Eclectic and multicultural, Brest lives up to its title as a City of Art and History.
Brittany is all about getting away from it all, whether you’re walking or enjoying good food, following your dreams or just exploring. Along the footpaths, on the beach or in the cobbled streets, take a deep breath of sea air and let yourself go: this is Brittany! From the Official website of tourism in Brittany
Take your time. Take the air. Escape for a few hours or a whole day and journey to the edge of the world. Walk through the moorlands and on the coastal paths, with 180-degree sea views. Cycle through a legendary forest with the wind in your hair, enjoying the fresh air. Get a taste of adventure on a mountain-bike or a surfboard. Breathe it all in: on the coast or in the countryside, Brittany offers a real taste of freedom. Come and enjoy it!
Let’s put an end to the clichés! There’s more to Brittany than crêpes and buckwheat pancakes! The ocean tang of oysters, the succulence of fresh king scallops, the crunchiness of kouign-amann, a heavenly crêpe topped with salted butter caramel, a bowl of sparkling cider, ripe strawberries from Plougastel, full-bodied buckwheat whiskey … these are all among the tastes of Brittany!

PRODUCTEURS / GROWERS
