Today is your last day of semester classes…and then we’re off to finals. Pace yourself, get plenty of good nutrition and rest and keep your Dustdevil spirits high.
- TAMIU is hosting Open Forums for candidates for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. I encourage participation by all University community members. All forums are in Academic Innovation Center (AIC) 126 from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. Remaining candidates and their respective forum dates are Monday, May 1 – Dr. Florenz Plassmann and Thursday, May 4 – Dr. Claudia San Miguel.
- Open Forums are also scheduled for the position of Library Director and are as scheduled, also in AIC 126: Tuesday, May 2, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., Vivienne McClendon; Wednesday, May 3, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., Malynda Dalton, and Thursday, May 4 , 10 - 11:30 a.m. Stephen Patton.
- Tonight will be our Late Night Breakfast for students at 8 p.m. in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Colonnade.
- Spring Commencement Exercises are just nine days ahead on Wednesday, May 10, at 11 a.m and 4 p.m., Sames Auto Arena. Details are here.
- Congratulations to all our University Life Award recipients who were recognized this past Saturday at the Student Center Ballroom.

TAMIU Art Professor Mounts First Texas Solo Exhibition at Corpus Christi Gallery
TAMIU assistant professor of Art Josias Figueirido will soon have his first solo art exhibition in Texas at the K Space Contemporary Art Gallery in Corpus Christi. The exhibition, “Piri the Dreamer and Flying Coyote in Good Company,” merges fiction and reality along with digital and analog processes in a series of new works that speak to ideas related to community, friendship, and personal heroes. An opening reception will be held Friday, May 5.
