The Championship Season What a Ride

Michigan Wrestling captured the Big Ten Conference Championship for the first time since 1973! U-M boasted two champions, 10 total placewinners and a program-record 143 points.

Nick Suriano (125 pounds) and Myles Amine (184) both won their second individual conference titles.

Michigan all but clinched the team title with Myles Amine's 6-4 overtime win in the 184-pound championship match; Myles was named Big Ten Co-Wrestler of the Championships.

Less than two weeks later, it was onto Detroit and Little Caesars Arena for the 2022 NCAA Championships.

Michigan took second place in the NCAA Championships team race to tie the program's best NCAA finish and its best since 2005.

Nick Suriano captured the 125-pound NCAA title, earning his second NCAA individual crown and U-M's first since 2012.

Michigan tied a program record with six All-Americans, its most since 1965.

Nick Suriano claimed the title at 125 pounds, Myles Amine was the NCAA runner-up at 184 pounds, Cameron Amine (165) placed fourth, and Will Lewan (157), Logan Massa (174) and Mason Parris (Hwt) all took fifth place.

The 2022 Championships at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan comprised on of the most elite fields of wrestlers in the history of the NCAA wrestling tournament.
Michigan Wrestling family, alumni and supporters packed the post-championship social to celebrate with the team and coaches.

Coach Bormet and each of the wrestlers took the mic with applause and cheers filling the room. The evening concluded with the coaches and wrestlers flanking this season's TWO new trophies.

What a remarkable ride! One for the record books.
