Reassess Canvas Notifications – Canvas Insights, Notifications etc.
As you prepare for the Fall semester, look back at the kind of communication avenues you used in the past and reassess their effectiveness. Consider new avenues of communication that you may not have used before. Here is a list of communication options and their benefits:
Canvas Insights: This tool allows you to use performance factors to target specific students who may need encouragement, assistance, or congratulations.
Canvas Announcements: This tool has the benefit of being integrated into your course allowing students to see all past and current announcements in one central location inside your course. However, students must have notifications enabled in order to receive email copies of your course announcements.
Canvas Inbox: This tool allows you to send messages to a single student, groups of students or the entire class and the recipients will receive notifications on Canvas and in the Canvas app. However, students must have notifications enabled in order to receive email copies of messages received through Canvas Inbox. More information about Canvas Inbox.
Pronto: This tool is perfect for quick messages and announcements which students can access either through Canvas or an app on their phone. You can share text, images, files and even have quick live sessions with your students. More information about Pronto.
Email: This tool is familiar to all of us and CSUN provides an email address that you can use to email all the students currently enrolled in your course. More information about Email.
