Catholic Schools Week Activities at mercy high school

Each year, there is a week dedicated to the appreciation of the Catholic schools. Throughout the week, each day had a set theme for students and teachers to participate in. The dedication to some of this year’s themes were phenomenal.

comfy clothes and music

Mercy High started the week off with a bang, or should I say a tune, played over the intercom by teacher Ms. Noronha! On Monday, students got a free spirit shirt dress down day and had a fun game of Guess that Song to start their morning. It was a great competitive game to get our brains going in a fun way!

that’s not a backpack!

On the second day of Catholic Schools Week, students were challenged to bring anything BUT a backpack as a way to carry their books around all day. I was amazed by everybody’s creativity. I personally brought a toddler sized lawn chair, but non-backpacks ranged from microwaves to small cars! Definitely not something you would see everyday. A new furry face was even featured in the building!

would these socks follow dress code?

For Wednesday, teachers and students busted out their craziest footwear in honor of “footloose day.” Plenty of us, including myself, chose to finally take an opportunity to wear our house slippers in school. However others really wanted to showcase their celebrity socks and animal print boots. In addition to our funky footwear, there was a dance party held in the gym. Way better than any homecoming in my opinion!

my God, I am yours for time & eternity

On the fourth and final day of Catholic Schools Week, we were all able to wear a piece from our childhood. Plenty of students wore old grade school uniforms and t-shirts, while some students got a bit more creative. From childhood characters to First Communion dresses, the possibilities were endless!

all aboard the monarch train!

Catholic Schools Week was quite a success seen by all the participation from every grade and teacher. Everyone in the building seemed to have so much fun taking part in each theme and seeing what their teachers and friends had in store. I cannot wait until next year even though I’m sad it will be my last one.
