We are seeking a Manager of Field Operations to join our young and dynamic team based in Abbotsford, BC. The qualified candidate will provide leadership, planning and management for the safe, on-time and on-budget installation of StructureCraft’s projects.

StructureCraft is a unique structural engineering, manufacturing and construction company that specializes in the design, fabrication and erection of timber structures incorporating steel, glass, concrete and other materials. Location: The StructureCraft headquarters in Abbotsford, British Columbia, just an hour outside of Vancouver and right next to the growing Abbotsford International Airport.

StructureCraft engineer-builds projects, overseeing everything from engineering to fabrication to installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the needed internal and external resources are availably to meet project schedules.
  • Provide input into project sales and working estimates.
  • Developing, documenting and maintaining site safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Hiring and training of internal personnel to support project requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project management, clients, subcontractors, etc. to determine and meet the project installation requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and project management to develop erection plans.
  • Prepare detailed resource loaded installation schedules.
  • Set site performance goals and milestone dates.
  • Provide input into the design to provide safe and efficient installation.
  • Estimate costs and monitor to ensure the project is on budget
  • Supervise staff and provide constructive feedback
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Closely coordinate site deliveries with project management.
  • Plan inspections and obtain construction permits from local authorities
  • Implement safety and quality guidelines
  • Order the appropriate equipment and arrange for regular maintenance
  • Keep track of material stock and orders
  • Ensure the job site remains safe, clean, and orderly
  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies
  • Obtain client signed handover by area and ensure any deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a construction leadership position (Foreman, Supervisor, Superintendent)
  • Knowledge of quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes including crane sizing and placement.
  • Familiarity with CAD software
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire
  • Trade background and / or Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field.

  • Project duration: (Average at or below project schedule, Year over year mh/piece reduction on similar structures)

  • Internal and Subcontract installation resource development.
StructureCraft collaborates with architects, owners, and developers across the globe.

Who will you be working with? You will be collaborating with our Project Management, Shop Management, Engineering, and Business Development staff, but reporting directly to our Manager of Projects. Extensive coordination will be necessary with our on-site personnel

When will you start? As soon as possible. Job is full-time and permanent.

This position is based at our office in Abbotsford, BC. Occasional travel is required for the position.
