Welcome To Our New Research Student Interns!
Alessia Mollo is a current sophomore majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish at Northwestern University. In the past five years, she has volunteered in the ER of La Grange Memorial Hospital and shadowed the medical director of the ED at Community First Medical Center in Chicago, and is very interested in learning more about pain management and opioid use disorder. She aspires to become an emergency medicine physician someday.
Christina Bui is currently a post-baccalaureate student at Northwestern in the SPS Certificate Program in Advanced Studies in Biology for the Health Professions. She is specifically interested in addressing healthcare disparities. She worked as a medical scribe at Oak Street Health in the Englewood community and served as part of a care team to provide quality care to geriatric Chicagoans and other adults with disabilities. She was also a research assistant at the Yale School of Public Health and is heavily involved in community service as Co-President of the Yale American Red Cross and volunteering in the social services department at the HAVEN Free Clinic.
Ria Tomar is a recent graduate of Emory University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and a concentration in Computer Science with experience in machine learning algorithms rooted in problem-solving and critical thinking. She is currently enrolled in the Advanced Biology post-baccalaureate program at Northwestern University with training and certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. She is also a clinical research intern for a startup company with a focus on epidemiology research and data collection. She also led a project called Next Step Neurofeedback, in which she created an fMRI model that aimed to reduce relapse rates in opioid use disorder populations.
