PSC Recognizes CGEMC as the Lowest-Cost Energy Provider in the State
As of data published March 6, 2022, we are proud to announce that Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC) is the lowest-cost electric provider in the state at the 2,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) level.
The Public Service Commission's (PSC) 2022 Winter Residential Survey ranks all 94 electric providers in Georgia. At the 2,000 kWh level, the average residential electric consumer in Georgia pays $226.83 per month. CGEMC consumers paid $171.26. That is $55.57 below the state average! At the 1,500 kWh level, CGEMC members saved $34.72 per month compared to the state average.
Being good stewards of our members' investment in their cooperative is a responsibility that our entire CGEMC team takes to heart. Providing you with reliable energy, excellent customer service, and the lowest possible rates is how we do business.
Careers in energy
CGEMC has been busy engaging with students at several local college and career day events. Educating and encouraging students on the variety of careers CGEMC offers is a great way to build our future workforce.
Welcome!
Please join us in welcoming some new faces to the CGEMC family! Craig Parker and Cory Seymour have accepted Field Services Technician positions. Brandon Godfrey, Condarius Marshall, and Dillon Parker will be Warehouse Materials Handlers. James Grier and Adam Martin have accepted First Class Linepersons positions. Congratulations and welcome!
Lineworker appreciation
Lineworkers serve on the front lines of our nation’s energy needs, and on April 18 Central Georgia EMC, along with other electric cooperatives across the country, will honor the brave men and women who work hard to keep the lights on.
Line crews work around the clock, sometimes in difficult and dangerous conditions, to keep power flowing to our residents. Whether they’re restoring power after a major storm or maintaining critical infrastructure to our electric system, lineworkers are at the heart of our cooperative.
We invite all co-op members to take a moment to thank a lineworker for the important work they do. On April 18, you can use #ThankALineworker on social media to show your support for the brave men and women who power our lives.

UNCLAIMED CAPITAL CREDIT CHECKS
CGEMC is a not-for-profit organization. This means any excess revenue, after covering operating costs, is returned to our customer-owners in the form of a capital credit check (based on each customer-owner’s energy use).
In December 2021, CGEMC issued capital credit refund checks. However, some of the refund checks issued were returned by the U.S. Postal Service as undeliverable. A list of the names of these customer-owners can be found by visiting our website, www.cgemc.com, or by viewing the list at our corporate office, located at 923 S. Mulberry St. Jackson, GA 30233.
If you know the correct address of these individuals or have any helpful information, please contact our office or notify the customer-owner to contact us as soon as possible by calling 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877.
Holiday Closing
The Central Georgia EMC office will be closed on Friday, April 15. In the event of a power outage, please call our 24-hour automated system at 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877 for an immediate response. Systems Operators are on duty to assist you.
System Inspections
CGEMC has contracted with Cappstone Energy Group LLC to perform system inspections in the Jasper and Spalding Counties. Cappstone Energy Group technicians will have signs on their vehicles (pickup trucks and UTVs) identifying them as CGEMC contractors. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact CGEMC at 770-775-7857.

smart APPLIANCES for your smart home!
When shopping for new appliances, why not choose smart appliances? For example, refrigerators with built-in cameras allow you to view the contents of your fridge from your phone, taking the guesswork out of your post-work shopping trip. You can also receive notifications if a door has been left open or the unit needs service.
Refrigerators aren't the only smart appliance alternatives; there are smart appliance options everywhere! For example, your smartphone can control technologically sophisticated dishwashers, washers, and dryers. This is especially useful during the hot summer months when you don't want to use heat-generating appliances during the hotter hours of the day. While you are shopping, don't forget to look for the ENERGY STAR ® rating for even more savings!
