Artist Statement
I choose to work primarily in clay because of its rich historical practice as well as its place in the dialogue of contemporary art. Traditionally thought of as material to create objects of craft and function, clay has found footing as a material that can portray artistic expression as well as conceptual considerations. It teeters on the threshold between craft and art, between art and life. I appreciate this careful dance and seek to portray it to the audience in my current and future work.
