wearing red for Lunar New Year
Third grade students from Ms. Barnitz's class created an art installation to beautify our garden area in honor of Heart and Soul Week (the art was inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy).
On Tuesday, Ms. Blackman's 3rd grade and Ms. Neikirk's (Boesch) 2nd grade classes performed "Something Just Like This" for us. The No Place for Hate team shared information about Lunar New Year and encouraged us to wear red on Thursday. On Thursday, Ms. Flynn's 4th grade class performed "Believer" - both singing and playing instruments. Ms. Mitchell led us in Thankful Thursday, where 4th grade students were thankful for their kindergarten buddies, teachers, parades and Drama Troupe, among many other things.
All of First grade attended a presentation put on by Li Yi Yeh, Vincent’s mom, and her Asian studies students from Tulane University about the traditions of Lunar New Year.
Girl Scout Troop 46051 made an announcement about the upcoming Girls' Choice Dance.
In honor of Heart and Soul Week, all third grade classes collaborated in a drive to collect items for people experiencing homelessness. This was an idea the students came up with. The items were distributed over the weekend by a local charity. Special thanks to everyone who donated to this special cause. The folks who received the items were very appreciative; they especially liked the beanies and everyone wanted socks!
Lost and Found is overflowing! Please label all clothing and check Lost and Found in the cafeteria when you get a chance. Thanks!
