The ODYSSEY presents: What Stems from those Cells?, Volume 2 Issue 1: In the first issue of the 2004-05 school year, the ODYSSEY focused on the then breakthrough discovery of isolating stem cells, with Viewpoints sporting a debate story between a CCHS teacher and ODYSSEY staff editor, as well as a Focus story going more in depth on the research behind the discovery. The issue also featured the topic of rush week and the climate of hazing while Variety covered your ice-cream needs before the end of the summer season. All the while, Sports spotlighted upcoming fall sports with a season preview. Story by Cadence Schapker
The ODYSSEY presents: How many Students Stand for the Pledge?, Volume 2 Issue 2: With the upcoming​​ 2004 presidential election, this issue hit hard on the presidential candidates and topics that were prominent in the political climate. From rising gas prices to standing for the pledge in public schools, readers were sure to be in the know. In lighter news, Sports had an emphasis on the world of dance as it featured step, baton, and a debate over the validity of dance as a sport. Viewpoints added a touch of seasonal flair with a Halloween story and Variety sported a hot-cake debate between Waffle House and IHOP. Story by Cadence Schapker
The ODYSSEY presents: Athens Music, Volume 2 Issue 3: Athens has long been known as a hotspot for rising music artists and this November issue spotlighted those local industry influencers​​. To keep the music theme going, Variety ranked the biggest rappers of the time, starting with Jay-Z and working down to Lil’ Wayne while going on to compare the music and careers of Tupac and Biggie. But don’t let the cover of this issue fool you: between the focuses on music are stories on the impacts of marijuana on students and domestic abuse. Sports then concluded the issue with a winter sport season preview and a spotlight on the Clarke Central High School Varsity volleyball team. Story by Cadence Schapker
The ODYSSEY presents: How Much Makes You 2 Fat?, Volume 2 Issue 4: The ODYSSEY focused on concerns with weight, both on a national and local level. These articles ranged from a News article discussing eating disorders to a Features spread on the obesity problem to a Sports article about wrestlers losing weight for weigh-ins. The ODYSSEY also included two articles about hunting as a sport, one as an editorial and the other covering the facts about hunting. The Variety section reviewed Asian cuisine and popular music, actors and movies. Both Viewpoints and News covered the legality of gay marriage. Story by Emma Kissane
The ODYSSEY presents: Wirklich Lebhaft: The Man Who Bleeds Red and Gold, Volume 2 Issue 5: The ODYSSEY paid tribute to German teacher of 28 years Charlie Wooten by profiling his experiences at Clarke Central High School. It featured a collaboration between the drama department of CCHS and neighboring Cedar Shoals High School in a production of the musical "Chicago," along with the article "Where have all the teachers gone?" which focused on teacher turnover at CCHS, while the sports feature covered the participation of nine CCHS students in the Special Olympics. The ODYSSEY presents: Georgia and its Sundry Stereotypes, Volume 2 Issue 6: In this issue the ODYSSEY examined the upcoming prom season as well as the theme of division. With a Focus story reporting on the reversion to a segregated prom happening in another Georgia town and a Feature discussing the divide between deep southern and lofty northern Georgians, both stories emphasize how segregation and separation are still alive and well in the current times, whereas in lighter news, Variety puts two scratch cooking establishments on the chopping block and Sports adds equestrians to the mix. The ODYSSEY presents: Behind the Principal's Door, Volume 2 Issue 7: With Dr. Maxine Easom’s sixth year as Clarke Central High School’s principal coming to a close, the ODYSSEY Media Group recognized her work and contributions to the school in this issue. In the spirit of praise, the issue goes on to recognize the efforts of four CCHS seniors to help a Cedar Shoals High School freshman achieve his dreams, and Sports brings step back into the picture with its then upcoming Step Love event. Though amidst the praise Viewpoints gets hot over Women's History Month and the struggles of being a journalist.
