Happy Teacher Appreciation Week: Reflection
- We thank all of our PTSO staff for celebrating the hard work and contribution of our teachers and staff throughout this past week.
Daily COVID-19 Health Screening and Covid Home Testing Kits
- Remember students are still required to perform the Daily Self-Screener
- Home Testing Kits are available for families upon request.
- Follow the below Covid-19 Process in the event of a positive case:
Senior End of the Year Events:
- May 12th: Senior Showcase @2:30-4:30 PM
- May 13th: Senior Showcase @ 7:00-9:00 PM
- May 23rd: Main Event Senior Trip @ 9:00-1:00 PM.
- May 25th: Activity Period Yearbook Delivery
- May 27th: Senior and Junior prom held at Bellevue Park.
- Seniors have a half day (7-11:00 AM) on May 27th.
- June 2nd: Senior Graduation Rehearsal 10:00-3:00 PM
- June 3rd: Senior Graduation in Theatre @ 7:00 PM.
- June 3rd: Seniors will receive 6 tickets and the ceremony will be livestream.
- Seniors are still held to the community expectations and student code of conduct until the end of the year.
- Any violation of the code of conduct will be subjected to consequences.
Dr. Recess Workshops:
- The Dr. Recess Assembly & Playground Games program is an on-site assembly and games program that promotes the importance of being active and living a healthy life by using developmentally appropriate games to teach social/emotional skills, thinking skills, and motor skills to children.
- Middle School students will be participating in structured activities and games with Dr. Recess Program on this Tuesday and Thursday during their cafeteria break.
- We believe our students need more opportunities to engage in appropriate social interactions during cafeteria free time and Dr. Recess program offers inclusive fun games and activities.
Updated Cafeteria Procedures
- In an effort to orientate students back to standard cafeteria procedures, our 6-8th grade students participated in an overview of updated cafeteria procedures.
- Middle School Parents, please review to familiarize yourself with the cafeteria expectations.
National Army Guard Middle School Resiliency Training Field Trip Recap
- On April 13th: Our Middle School students participated in a field trip to the National Army Guard campus
- Our Cab Support Team organized this field trip as part of our schools effort to continue to reinforce and foster resiliency among our middle school students.
- Students were ask to complete the below survey to collect feedback.
Shubbersome Performance
- Congratulations to our HS and MS school participant’s in Shubbersome production.
- We thank Ms. LaNeve for sharing her gifts and talents with the Can Calloway community.
- We had two standing room only meritorious performances that were scheduled this past weekend.
Parking Passes and Driving Privileges:
- We have received several complaints from our neighbors for parking illegally along side of N. DUPONT road and the Cannery.
- If your student needs a parking permit, please apply using the link below.
- Any car without a parking pass will be endanger of being towed.
- These spots are assigned to students earlier this year who paid for their parking pass.
- If your student is driving a different vehicle, please have your student share with the front office.
- New Castle Police will be issuing tickets for students who park illegally on N. DuPont Rd.
- Cease and desist from making U-Turns. We had two students injured due to a recent accident last week.
Cab Band Booster Win A Grand Prize Fundraiser
- Do you want to win a $1,000 cash from the Cab Calloway Band? If so, please click the below link to purchase your $10 ticket. There is no limit on the amount of tickets you can purchase.
- Winners will be announced at the Spring Band Concert being held on Thursday May 26th. You do not need to be present at the concert to win. Winners will be contacted the following day.
- All proceeds directly benefit the Cab Calloway High School Band Programs, which include over 150 students who perform in the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Indoor Colorguard, and/or Indoor Drumline.
Cab Calloway School Fund
- As we come to the closing of the school year, what better way to end the year by becoming a "THEATER PATRON" by purchasing a commemorative seat plaque for someone special in your life! Your financial support will fund the continuing arts programs at Cab and makes a difference to both our students and community.
- Below are the levels of contribution, and you can click on the link below to fill out the form for your plaque or you can visit the Cab Calloway School Fund Website. PATRON LEVELS
- PLATINUM: $1000 contribution includes a Seat Plaque in Section B and recognition on the posted Patrons board.
- GOLD: $500 contribution includes a Seat Plaque in Section A, C, or E and recognition on the posted Patrons board.
- SILVER: $250 contribution includes a Seat Plaque in Sections D, F, G, H, or L and recognition on the posted Patrons board.
- BRONZE: $125 contribution includes a Seat Plaque in Sections I, J, K, M, N, P, or Q; recognition on the posted Patrons board.
New Castle County Clean Stream Contest.
- The students in Dr. Wu's chemistry class participated in signing pledges for New Castle County Clean Stream Contest.
- Please consider making a pledge and help Cab science department to win fund for supplies. The pledge drive will open through 5/13, so encourage friends and family members to participate.
After-School Activities: Activity Coordinators
Our activity coordinators are assigned throughout the week (M-TH) in support of supervising our extracurricular activities after school.
Please see the following student expectations :
- Students must report to their assigned activity by 2:30 PM.
- Students are required to sign out and sign in when leaving campus.
- Middle School students are not permitted to leave campus to go to the store.
- The below QR code will be used to keep account of students leaving campus without permission.
- Please note: Cab Calloway is a closed campus.
- Students are recommended to bring snacks or plan to purchase items from the Snack Shack or Vending Machines.
Athletic Schedule
Community Reminders:
- All students must have a hall pass to go to any assigned area.
- Any student found on campus without an assigned location will be subject to consequences outlined in the Code of Conduct.
- Parents, we do not provide after-care here in the school. Students being picked up after school must be picked up by 3:00 PM.
- Students being picked up from after school activities must be picked up by 4:30 PM or immediately after the end of the activity.
- High School students leaving campus after school to get food must return by 2:35 PM.
- Middle School students are not permitted to leave campus to get food during after school hours.
- Snack Shack is open Monday-Thursday 2:20 PM-4:20 PM.
- No student is permitted to open the door for any student once the doors are closed during the school day unless supervised by an adult.
- Students found opening doors for other students will be subject to consequences.
BPA National Team
- From Tuesday, May 3 through May 8th, fifteen extremely talented Cab Calloway 7th and 8th grade business students attended the 2022 BPA National Conference in Dallas, Texas. Each student represented our school and district admirably and did a fantastic job in competition.
- Conference results as follows:

- Beibhinn Brady, Allison Hong, Mariel Schweiger, Abner Murillo Gonzalez placed 1st in Website Design Team
- Alek Lee placed 1st in Financial Literacy, Business Fundamentals Concepts, Computer Literacy Concepts, placed 2nd in Business Math Concepts and was a top 10 finalist in Business Communication Skills Concepts

- Emma Li placed 1st in Human Resource Exploration
- Annie Li placed 2nd in Graphic Design Promotion, 3rd in Business Fundamentals Concepts and was a top 10 finalist in Digital Citizenship, Business Communication Skills Concepts and Computer Literacy Concepts

National Art Honor Society Exhibit
- Cab Calloway’s National Art Honor Society students art will be on display at Talleyville Frame Shoppe & Gallery.
- Our students work tirelessly all year long, volunteering their time as part of the NAHS requirements, as well as maintaining a B or higher average in all of their art classes.
- The students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, take diverse classes ranging from Visual Arts Foundation II to AP Studio Art. Please join us in celebrating their artistic accomplishments!
- The exhibition is free and open to the public, and will be up from May 6 - May 13.
Indoor Color Guard TIA National Championship
