UDIS NEWSLETTER ISSUE #9

K2: Communicating thinkers : K2 learners used their communication and thinking skills this week while completing online learning. They were able to sing, dance, write and even make videos of themselves to show their learning. Well done to K2 for all their hard work and to our parents for supporting their progress.
2/3: Videomakers :  Year 2/3 has completed a smooth and successful week of learning online. Some of our learners took the opportunity to create videos to show what they have learned rather than the traditional pencil and paper methods. This is fantastic and we would like to encourage more use of technology for our learners when they are completing work.
Y5/6: Exploring identity : Here are some self reflections from Year 5/6.This learning was completely independent and shows Learner Agency and Student Voice. Children reflected and chose what they felt was most important using both text and graphic elements. They were used to give presentations to their classmates.
Y8/9: Forensic detectives : In Individuals and Societies, students investigated the mystery of the headless Romans found in England in 2004. Like criminal detectives, learners collected evidence to present theories about what happened. Students learned how solving these cases involves experts from many disciplines (e.g. anthropologists, forensic scientists etc.) and they then presented a specific forensic science to share with their peers.

Student success at UDIS: Jamilee in K1

Jamilee has recently joined our K1 family. She has been a superstar and a risk-taker during online learning and has been enthusiastically participating during class discussions and all given learning tasks. Well done and welcome to UDIS Jamilee!

Thai: Mastering pronunciations : We are learning how to read and pronounce difficult words to better enjoy the stories we read together. We have also been sharing ideas and making conclusions about the characters in these stories during online learning. Well done learners!
We are learning to communicate online! : During online learning we are learning to communicate in different ways rather than face to face. Some key tips to effective communication include being as concise as possible, be clear in what you mean and to always be polite!
