After a disrupted start to the year, we have now had two full weeks in a row and this week even had sunshine for most of the week! It has been great seeing how well everyone has settled into class routines now, and the teachers and students have all built strong relationships very quickly.

We were visited by the Education Review Office this week as part of the checks on school systems. They were pleased to see all the processes in place to support quality learning and loved seeing how happy and engaged the students all were in class.

Progress is carrying on in our main build and one of the really fun parts of this week was working on the playground design. We are aware that our school playground will also be used regularly on the weekends by our community so want to make sure we have the best possible design.

To help with this design, we had one playground company come in this week and hear from the students about what they would love to see in the playground. There were some very creative ideas!

As part of our focus on developing emotional vocabulary, all of our students have learned about colour zones that represent different feelings. The characters from Inside Out are a really engaging way to develop how we express these feelings. Encourage your children to really identify how they are feeling as the more they name their emotions, the easier it is for them to regulate these in the long term.

It is awesome to see how many of our students love scootering to school. While we are working with Auckland Transport on making our surrounding roads safer for our community, some of the construction vehicles around the area do seem to speed their way past. So please, talk to your children about crossing the roads safely. We are also talking to them, and are lucky enough to be able to show them the crossing areas that are being built into the footpaths.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week.
