As with many, 2021 brought new challenges and obstacles for award-winning gospel recording artist, songwriter, and producer Marcus Jordan. For nearly two weeks in January 2021, he was fighting for his life in ICU due to COVID-19 and pneumonia. Even though circumstances brought uncertainty following his near-death experience, Marcus' trust in God never failed. Months later his time of isolation and recovery birthed open heaven of newly composed songs.
Following his introductory lead single “I Will Bless Your Name,” Marcus Jordan simultaneously released the second single and title-track “Call on the Name” from his sophomore studio album, released on June 22, via his independent record label Marcus Jordan Music Group. The 9-track album debuted at #3 on iTunes Top 200 Christian/Gospel Digital Albums chart. Recently cracking Top 40 on BDS Gospel and Mediabase charts, “Call on the Name” continues to gain major popularity on Gospel radio.
Marcus Jordan is a man who desires to promote true fellowship with God through Bible-based teaching and spirit-led praise and worship. Succeeding his grandfather and father, Marcus was installed as Pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in 2015. He currently leads the Praise City Family Church in Missouri City, TX. He and his wife, Michelle Jordan, are dedicated to building up Fort Bend and surrounding communities both spiritually and physically. Praise City strives to serve their community, and through their service, represent the love of God.
In 2017, his goal of becoming a police officer was finally accomplished. After obtaining his Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Marcus completed the University of Houston Downtown’s Police Academy. Completing the Police Academy led to him becoming a Houston-based Police Officer where he faithfully protects and serves students, faculty, and his local community.
Marcus Jordan launched into the gospel music scene in 2017 with his debut single “You Are Here.” He followed it up with his second single and title track “I Will Bless the Lord” from his debut album in January 2018. “Give God the Glory” served as his next single (May 2019), which had success reaching #1 on Nielsen BDS Internet Gospel Radio Panel chart. His most notable song to date “I Can'' was released in early 2020. Internet phenomenon Karlton Humes, best known as NotKarltonBanks, who gave a comedic parody of “I Can” to his 1 million Instagram (@notkarltonbanks) social media followers. In addition to his appearances at the 25th Essence Festival in New Orleans and the Stellar Gospel Music Awards, as a noted musician, he was afforded the opportunity to work with Beyoncé’s sister and recording artist Solange, while a part of the Music World Entertainment House Band. As an artist, he has shared the stage with Brian Courtney Wilson, Kurt Carr, Angie Stone, and others.
