A Walk In Five Photos Kaia Smith - Photo 1

Freshmen Emma Olenik and Lucy Hewitt take a walk on the path Olenik uses for her walk home. Olenik and Hewitt met in sixth grade but became friends in early 2021.
Olenik and Hewitt pass the house fence where a dog sometimes sits. Hewitt became aware of Bear, the dog, when she practiced at the tennis courts nearby. “Bear is the most amazing creature that I have ever met,” Hewitt said. “Every time I walk past I always look for Bear.”
Olenik admires the viny plant that hangs on the fence. There used to be much less greenery on the fence but the plants just kept growing even during the winter.
Olenik and Hewitt both wear sweatshirts on their stroll. Their walk took place on December 9th which was a brisk day with a temperature high of 50.
Olenik reflects on her walks home from school. She didn’t need to walk the 1.5 miles every day but always chose to do it anyway. “Personally I love my walk home,” Olenik said. “It is really just my time to myself and it is very peaceful.”
