DOE Early Career Research Program

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced it is accepting proposals for the 2023 DOE Office of Science Early Career Research Program to support the research of outstanding scientists early in their careers. The program will support over 80 early career researchers for five years at U.S. academic institutions, DOE national laboratories, and Office of Science user facilities. To be eligible for the program, a researcher must be an untenured, tenure-track assistant or associate professor at a U.S. academic institution or a full-time employee at a DOE national laboratory or Office of Science user facility.

Foster a Culture of Belonging, Campus-wide

A sense of belonging is one of the most pivotal predictors of student and employee retention and success. Yet meeting the diverse needs of your campus community is no simple feat – it takes a village deeply engaged and committed to making equity and inclusion everyone’s responsibility. You are invited to participate in "Foster a Culture of Belonging, Campus-wide," an Inside Higher Ed webinar hosted by ACUE on Thursday, December 1 from 2:00-3:00 PM ET.

Faculty Success with LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning has designed a course to empower higher education faculty to leverage LinkedIn Learning inside the classroom. Upon completion of the webinar, faculty will be able to (1) Recall the value of LinkedIn Learning, (2) Locate relevant content for their curriculum and personal development, and (3) Distribute relevant and meaningful content to students.

📚 Book of the Month

In Teaching Change, José Antonio Bowen argues that education needs to be redesigned to consider how human thinking, behaviors, bias, and change really work. Drawing on new research, Bowen explores how we can create better conditions for learning that focus less on teachers and content and more on students and process. He also examines student psychology, history, assumptions, anxiety, and bias and advocates for education to focus on new 3Rs—relationships, resilience, and reflection. Finally, he suggests explicit learning designs to foster the ability to think for yourself.

Do you have a question about teaching best practices or student learning? Are you interested in designing or re-designing a course? Aligning assessments with course outcomes? Developing measurable learning outcomes? Or strategies to actively engage students? If so, you can request a consultation with a member of the Center for Innovative and Transformative Instruction (CITI).

During the consultation, we will discuss in greater detail what you want to achieve and help you identify the right resources to foster transformative learning experiences in your course.

CITI is here to help You!
