First Snow january 2022

The snows of winter came late to my part of New England. In early January, we got the first accumulation worthy of a shovel.

It is these early snowfalls that are always the best, the prettiest, and the most evocative of an earlier time.

A blanket of frozen powder changes the landscape fully from the lush green of spring and summer, and the colorful riot of fall, to the white desert of winter.

The beauty holds at least until the melting begins.

Leafless, the trees stand as skeletons in contrast to the purity and whiteness.

We wait.
