A WORLD IN CRISIS
The third-year BA Media Studies students will exhibit their Degree Show in ATB2101 from 30th May - 2nd June, with an exhibition launch event on the evening of 30th May (4-6PM).
For their final major projects, the students have been responding critically and creatively to a shared theme: A WORLD IN CRISIS. The exhibition features a variety of interactive, mixed-media projects that address issues like identity and body image, conspiracy theories, Artificial Intelligence, future pandemics, space tourism, environmental crisis, political conflict, and digital activism.
Sophie Eley - Beyond the Filters
This project is an exploration of the usage of social media filters and how they can impact self-esteem and body image in contemporary culture, resulting in a type of identity crisis of the digital age.
Lucy Ward - Suffrage Movement Reimagined
Taking the UK Suffrage Movement of the early 1900s and reimagining it as a 21st Century Social Media Movement through the creation of a website and photoshopping images from the time to modernise them.
Samantha Carr - Space Futures
This project explores the concepts of space tourism, imagining a future of territorialising other planets. Sam chose this subject after looking at the ways we have affected our Earth. Issues such as overpopulation, global warming, and pollution are having a devastating effect and this is why our thoughts have moved on towards broader horizons that encompass greater space travel and possible habitation of new planets. For this project, Sam has created a space travel company, designing a website, logo and business cards to advertise what the company offer, space travel and an opportunity to live on Mars.
