April 2022 @BVNLibrary 4th Quarter was a busy blast with lit circles, research, 3D printing and more. Read on to learn about the busy spring!

ELA Lit Circles

Earth/Space Science-Big Questions

Students in Mr. Ocon's Earth/Space Science classes learned about using library databases to answer a series of 3 Big Questions. Students wrote short research papers that addressed theoretical questions related to science. Students wrote about what would happen if the sun went out, what would happen if the moon disappeared and what would happen if 2 galaxies collided. They cited sources and limited their answers to 400 words!

ELA 10-Community Research

Students in ELA 10 classes discussed issues in the local community and wrote short research papers about their topics. Students picked topics that were important to them such as why getting a driver's license is such a long process, what happens to trash around our community, and school issues such as early start times and compliance based grading. These students learned a lot about research and this unit scaffolds vertically with the papers they will write in ELA 11 and their senior ELA classes.

Chemistry-Break Out

Students in Mrs. Kollman's and Mrs. Weise's Chemistry classes played breakout edu. Classes worked in two competing teams to try and breakout first! Each team was rewarded with a sweet treat once they solved all of the puzzles!

Sociology-Marble Races

Students in Ms. Salimbene's Sociology classes competed in marble race competitions. Students created structures to earn points and the team with the most points one! This competition was part of a series of competitions that the students compete in throughout the entire semester.
