BIOGRAPHY
The “Roaring 20’s Jazz Band” is a 6 piece ensemble that plays traditional jazz in the style that originated in the city’s of New Orleans and Chicago during the 1920’s. This music is what you would hear being played live from the Speakeasies of Chicago to the streets of New Orleans. This style of Jazz was the 1st popular music to be recorded as well as the first popular music to be broadcast over the air.
Our repertoire spans from early 1900’s Ragtime through the 1930’s. The musicians in the “Roaring 20’s Jazz Band” are some of Las Vegas’s finest full time freelance musicians. They not only know this style and repertoire, but also have backed up many of the great Vegas headliners, played Vegas production shows, and recorded and toured with big name bands and artists. The instrumentation includes trumpet, clarinet, trombone, banjo (or piano), tuba (or acoustic bass), and drums. We can play stationary or stroll to different locations and play. We can also do the New Orleans style “Second Line” strolling, popular during Mardi Grass season. As we are an acoustic band we don’t need a PA, although if we are stationary, and a PA is available, we may through in a few vocals.
So there you have it. As the 2020’s spring back to life, what better way to celibate than to bring back the music that made the 1920’s roar!
