As a highlight of spring week, Naperville North High School chose "anything but a backpack day" for Wednesday's theme. This meant that students would be permitted to carry their school supplies with another object other than the typical backpack in order to receive the prize of the day: a fanny pack. Here are some of the creative ideas that students used. *Alex Barger (11) and Adam Zielke (11) are featured with Barger's sled pictured above*
One of the more popular non-backpack items, brought in by NNHS junior David Thompson, was a lawnmower. Many people questioned how Thompson brought it to school and where he was going to place his school supplies within the lawnmower.
"It fit pretty easily into my car, I just had to fold the handle over. All of my materials for school are under the hood of the lawnmower," Thompson said.

These photos include just a few of the creative ideas shown by Huskies on anything but a backpack day. Some of the other interesting items that people used to carry their stuff included wheelbarrows, dog leashes, shopping carts, cat and dog crates, baskets, and many more! This theme day was definitely one for the books, and it will be remembered by NNHS students for years. Many different students think that this theme should be used again in future spirit days because of the fun, creativity, and laughs that it gave.
