How did our beautiful world begin? Week 3

This week Year 1 have explored the idea of creation, what a creator means and asked the important question of…

How did the world begin?

We started our week off focusing on various religions and celebrating all the different religions present in our class. After, we played a game where we were given statements and had to move to the side of the class that gave the answer ‘I believe’, ‘I do not believe’ and ‘I’m not sure.’ We really enjoyed this and explained what it meant to believe in something.

On Tuesday, we explored the idea of creation and looked out at our wonderful world, highlighting all its beauty and spoke about how lucky we are to live in a world that has been created with so many amazing features.

On Wednesday, the children explored the Jewish and Christian Creation Story and sequenced it in their books in numerical order.

In Maths, we have been learning a lot about numbers. The children really impressed us with their knowledge when trying to recognise numbers as words in our game of snap!

In English, we have started writing sentences about the characters from Cave Baby! To make our sentences sound amazing, we spoke about what an adjective is and which ones we could include in our work! We have also engaged in some fun hot seat activities, where we interviewed the characters from the book.

On Thursday, the children explored many of the adjectives to describe the characters in Cave Baby. After, we created a big collaborative drawing of all the characters, with their adjectives beside them. We hope Cave Baby likes it!

Well done Year 1 for a superb week!
