We've seen more garter snakes this year, they seem to pop up everywhere

(where you would expect them, and in one case where not expected)

Petrie Island, Early spring

We came across three that were sunning themselves on the trail, one took off, two cozied up.

Almonte area

I spent about 20 minutes with this one trying to get pictures with its tongue out.

It just stood its ground and tested the air with its tongue

Bell High School

We came across a "nest" of 5-6 of them in the sun. I managed to get a shot with three still in the nest site.

Calabogie

We didn't expect to find a garter snake with is home under the front door to the cottage

The snake was out frequently sunning itself on the rocks close to the house. One time it had a friend visiting.
