Staying safe! Week 2

This week, Year 1 have been starting to write number sentences in Maths, independently write in English and learnt about staying safe in PSHE.

In PSHE, we had a discussion about ways we can stay safe when speaking to adults inside of school and outside of school. We also learnt about what to do if we ever got lost and enjoyed engaging in role play, pretending we were lost in a shop. Finally, the class discussed about what things we should put inside and onto our bodies. We learnt how to be safe around medicines and designed a table together of items that do and do not belong inside of our bodies.

In Maths the children have been trying hard to write number sentences independently, remembering where to put the add and equals symbol. Some of the children have enjoyed using numicon to learn about how we can add numbers together.

In English, some of Year 1 are still reading Lost and Found and are trying to write fun sentences pretending to be the penguin. Check some of them out!

Our PE lessons this week have focused on ball manipulation. We had a go and moving the ball around with our feet, which was tricky but really fun!
