In Loving Memory of Cabella Calloway Langsam (daughter of Cab Calloway) who was instrumental in the early development of Cab Calloway School of the Arts.

The Parent and Student Support Contact List is updated regularly to reflect changes to the contact person who can address your direct needs.

  • Remind App is another communication tool for you to connect with your teachers, school counselors, and administrators with a two way communication feature.
  • We will still utilize Schoology and Blackboard throughout the school year.

Class of 2024 Commencement Ceremony Time Change

  • On May 31, 2024 we will have our Class of 2024 Commencement Ceremony here at Cab Calloway School of the Arts at 5:30 PM
  • Historically, the time has been scheduled for 7:00 PM ending at or around 9:30 PM.
  • We are moving the times earlier to provide students and families more opportunities to celebrate after the ceremonies.

Internal Major Change

  • This form is for those students currently enrolled at Cab Calloway who are interested in changing their art major for the 24-25 School Year.
  • Decisions regarding major changes are at the discretion of Cab Calloway School of the Arts administration.
  • Administrators will review all major change requests and make a decision regarding the request based on the following criteria:
  1. Existing enrollment (art major and grade level)
  2. Attendance
  3. Academic Performance (grades)
  4. Behavior Record

Middle School Master Schedule

  • Cab students currently receive approximately 80 minutes every other day in English (ARC curriculum) and Math (Illustrative Math). Both curriculums are designed to be implemented a minimum of 60 minutes per day.
  • During the 24-25 School Year, we will be increasing instructional minutes for Math and ELA in Middle School.
  • We will be offering one elective in middle school, which will lead to more focused and engaged arts instruction within the major and art electives.
  • In addition to providing opportunities for students who prefer academic pursuits such as World Languages, Human Anatomy, and Science Olympiad– all with an arts focus.
  • We are turning our attention to restoring the 30-minute activity period back to communtiy building through art and academic enrichment activities.

Anti-Harrassment Statement

  • The Red Clay Consolidated School District strictly prohibits acts of harassment based on a student's actual or perceived race, color, or national origin, including shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics like antisemitism. Any such act will not be tolerated, and immediate action will be taken.
  • If any student feels that they have been subjected to harassment or a hostile environment based on race, color, or national origin, they are strongly urged to report it to a school administrator or counselor without any delay. The district is committed to conducting a prompt and thorough investigation into such cases.
  • Any student found guilty of engaging in acts of harassment that create a hostile environment based on race, color, or national origin will face strict disciplinary actions, which may include suspension and/or expulsion.
  • To prevent acts of harassment, students, parents/guardians, and school district staff are expected to take responsibility and work together.
  • Please review the following Culture and Climate presentation with your student that highlights examples of speech that will not be tolerated in jest or with intention to harm.

Dr. Wu: 2024-25 Teacher of the Year

Ian Carr: Strings Major

Congratulations to violin senior Ian Carr, who tied for 1st place in the Delaware Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, playing Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1!!! Ian will perform this concerto with the DYSO this Spring. Red Clay Schools.

Elodie Chevreir: Lincoln Essay Winner and Carson Scholarship Recipient

  • We are pleased to share that once again a Cabbie was the winner of the Lincoln Club Essay Contest!
  • Élodie Chevrier was honored for her winning essay at the Lincoln Club of Delaware's annual black tie dinner at the Wilmington Country Club where she was awarded a $1000 college scholarship.

  • Elodie has also been selected as a 2024 Carson Scholar! With this honor, they will receive a $1,000 scholarship award that will be invested for their college education.
  • Elodie Chevrier was chosen because she demonstrates the highest standards of academic achievement, integrity, and civic and social responsibility.

Piano and Strings: Kimmel Center Field Trip

Our HS Strings and Piano students took a trip to the Kimmel Cultural Campus to see the Philadelphia Orchestra’s open rehearsal of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue & Weill Symphony No 2, then grabbed lunch at historic Reading Terminal Market! Red Clay Schools

Kevin Mak: AP Female Diversity Award

  • Congratulations to Mr. Mak and his students. Due to his excellent teaching and recruitment efforts, Cab Calloway School of the Arts High School has earned the AP® Female Diversity Award for the 2022-23 school year.
  • The AP Program recognizes schools that have achieved either 50% or higher female exam taker representation in one or both of the AP computer science courses, or a percentage of female computer science exam takers that meets or exceeds the school’s female population.

Middle School Visual Arts: Wilmington Library Exhibit and Scholastic Winners

  • 6th and 7th grade students participated in making an artwork that expressed peace and was exhibited on January 28th from 1-2 at the Wilmington Library.
  • In addition, Cab Calloway took home 111 awards this year!

Science Olympiad

  • 👏 Congratulations to our Science Olympiad team for their outstanding performance at DSU! 🥉
  • Despite the rainy weather, Dr. Wu and Mr. Kafader's coaching led our one of our teams to a remarkable 3rd place in the state, just behind Tower Hill and Charter. 🏆
  • Our students showcased their scientific prowess in a variety of events, from forestry to robotics, demonstrating their dedication and skill. 🌲🤖 Let's celebrate their incredible achievement! 🎉 #cabarts #cabscience #RemarkableRedClay #ScienceOlympiadSuccess 🧬🔬

Dance: Regional High School Dance Festival

  • Mrs. Cohen-Sherlock and the high school dance majors went to the Regional High School Dance Festival in Norfolk, Virginia on March 6th-10th.
  • All the dancers participated in many guest master classes in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip-hop, Caribbean, African, Musical Theater, Improvisation, Yoga, Pilates, and many more classes throughout the weekend.
  • Some of the dancers also had a chance to take a college and summer intensive audition and many of the dancers have been awarded a variety of scholarships.
  • The dancers were able to talk to different college representatives to find out more about their school and dance programs.
  • It was a fun filled weekend with so much learning and being surrounded with many talented dancers from other performing arts high schools throughout the United States!!

Six: Teen Edition

  • The much-anticipated opening of Six: Teen Edition is finally here! We witness an unforgettable fusion of history, music, and girl power as this dynamic show took the stage.
  • With its catchy tunes, fierce choreography, and powerful storytelling, Six fulfilled was an absolute thrill ride from start to finish.
  • Don't miss your chance to experience the reign of these iconic queens – grab your tickets now and join the royal celebration!"
  • Join us for SIX the Musical! This weekend March 22nd, 23rd, & 24th. In addition, we need some volunteers for each show.

Broadway Junior Revue

  • Join the middle school for a night of Broadway fun! Raise Your Voice is a brand-new revue featuring songs from across MTI's Broadway Junior® collection.
  • From Broadway Junior musicals based on classic titles like Guys and Dolls and Oliver! to beloved Disney shows like The Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins, Raise Your Voice offers a fun introduction to musical revues for young performers.
  • Join us on March 20th and 21st for the middle school musical revue!
