Spark Creativity: Inspired by Local Artist Zio Ziegler
Art Foundations II: Modern to Contemporary Art Theory & Practice
Students in Art Foundations II were introduced to local artist Zio Ziegler with the goal of sparking their own creativity. Zio Ziegler utilizes a blend of realistic and surreal imagery to create his compositions–referencing aboriginal sculptures and artifacts for inspiration.
“I want it to represent the way that my brain works, which I think is in smaller bursts of thought that are then stitched together in a bigger idea,’ Ziegler said. ‘Although they look random in the beginning, hopefully, they look cohesive in the end.’
Students were encouraged to learn more about their own creativity throughout this project. As they worked through the ideation process and discomfort, each student was encouraged to learn more about their own expression and creativity through line, pattern and color. Many students were surprised to find deeper meaning in the imagery that came to the surface. Take a closer look at each piece to get a glimpse into the creative mind of each student.
