Event Description
The Grossmont and Cuyamaca online education teams are excited to share 3 workshops hosted by facilitators from the district. The workshops were developed in response to our Spring 2022 survey. Whether you plan to teach fully online, hybrid, or use Canvas to support your face-to-face course, there are sure to be helpful tips and ideas at each of the workshops to level up your course design skills, utilize the new Zoom Canvas feature, and assess utilize new Canvas tools.

Wednesday, august 10th:
Session 1: Setting up campsite, 10-10:30am
Description: Join the Grossmont and Cuyamaca Distance Education teams to set up your campsite for our district-wide Summer Camp. The hosts will welcome you to camp and provide you with a “welcome packet,” which includes new and exciting Canvas goodies, updates on HyFlex training, various resources, and an overview of the day’s activities. We can’t wait to see you!

Session 2: Arts and crafts with designplus, 10:45am-12pm
Description: This will be our “arts and crafts” portion of Summer Camp. The hosts will start out with an overview of the DesignPlus tools, demonstrate how to turn the tools on in Canvas, and show examples of various Canvas elements that have been designed with DesignPlus. Then, participants will have a choice of crafts they would like to do for the remainder of the session. They will be invited to choose a facilitated breakout room to either build a DesignPlus homepage, learn about the DesignPlus Multitool (which allows us to design templates, announcements, and modules in bulk), or retrofit existing course content using DesignPlus.

session 3: Hiking the zoom trail,1-2pm
Description: This will be our metaphorical “physical activity” portion of Summer Camp. Join the hosts as they guide you through the new Tech Connect (Zoom) updates. The hosts will demonstrate how to turn Tech Connect on in Canvas, set up office hours and recurring meetings, navigate Student Connect, utilize Zoom Whiteboards, and manage the import settings. Get ready to Zoom new trails!

SESSION 4: campfire, 2:30-4PM
Description: After a fun day at Summer Camp, we invite you to our “campfire.” Participants will have the opportunity to ask us questions, do a “show and tell” to share their new DesignPlus creations, and continue working with DesignPlus or setting up their Tech Connect in Canvas. The campfire will end with a send off as we gear up for fall.
