POST-PANDEMIC DISORIENTATION: WHAT I'M HEARING THESE DAYS

Insecurity. Leaders: "Will my staff revolt?" "How do I keep the focus on the work when the news is so bad?" Workers: "Will I be let go if there's a recession?" "Is this job really worth it for me?"

Frustration. "Everyone's exhausted: we're too short staffed." "With the new partial remote working, we're not operating like we used to." "It's hard to figure out how to move forward."

Hopelessness. "I don't understand how to lead in these times."

I'm calling it the post-pandemic disorientation. With the deep economic and political insecurity, you can't go back to who you were before the pandemic. And orgs may not quite know who they are or what to do moving forward. In the not knowing, with all the cause for serious concern, it's easy to fall into despair.

THE COVID RESET

I'll meet with a point person (usually COO or CEO) to grasp the nuances of the "post-pandemic" struggles regarding culture and vision, and design an intervention with one-one-one staff coaching or a day-long group retreat.

Because the Covid Reset is tailored to fit each organization, each org will get something different out of it. However, there are some benefits you can expect:

  • Tools to communicate clearly about what needs to happen next
  • Decreased anxiety
  • A clearer vision
  • More pathways for generative collaboration and connection with the team

THE ARC OF THE COVID RESET PROGRAM

1. Data gathering: Two hour-long meetings with an appointed leader, plus one custom staff survey to get the lay of the land about the areas that could be higher functioning.

2. The Intervention: I'll design a custom program, either one-on-one staff coaching (up to three ppl for 6 weeks) or a group retreat (in-person or zoom depending on travel) to increase collaboration, clarity and teamwork moving forward.

3. Follow-up: One hour-long meeting with the leader and/or with staff to see how the intervention went and what the focus needs to be moving forward.
