Note from our Head
Dear Oakfield families,
In a change from normal proceedings this newsletter has a particular focus on the exciting events that are going to take place over the coming weeks and we hope you will join us for many of them.
On Saturday 14th May we see the return of our Senior Schools Fair for those parents who are interested in meeting representatives from lots of amazing secondary schools and considering options for your child after they leave Oakfield at the end of Year 6. We hope you have managed to see the incredible results from our 2022 crop with over 100 offers and 20 scholarships for our 39 Leavers. The Senior Schools Fair is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about the schools first-hand as we prepare your children to succeed on their own journey to 11+.
By happy coincidence the 14th is also the West Dulwich Spring Fair where we will have Minims performing outside Dulwich Books on Croxted Rd at 10.15 - 10.45am as part of the festivities. The festival will be taking place from 10am - 4pm on Park Hall, Croxted and Rosendale roads. So why not come to enjoy the Minims performance and our Senior Schools Fair at the same time?
Meanwhile, the auspicious date of Friday 13th sees the annual tradition that is Crazy Hair Day and we hope you have lots of fun coming up with wacky hairstyles to wear into school with donations going towards the Year 6 Leavers Party.
Thursday 19th May sees OAFs Music Night take place in the Prep Hall with amazing in-house talent on both the mic and guitar. All proceeds go towards OAFs to re-invest back into Oakfield.
I know the whole Oakfield community (not least the staff netball team!) are incredibly excited to have our OAFs Summer Fair back on which this year is the Oakfield World Summer Fair. The OAFs team have worked incredibly hard to bring so many incredibly exciting companies and activities to the Fair and I know it promises to be a brilliant day. This year there will also be lots of input from the children into their stalls which will celebrate the fascinating countries and continents that make up our world. Thank you to the many people who are doing sterling work to ensure the day will be a great success.
Last but not least we have the Oakfield Summer Exhibition returning on w/c 13th June with submissions from all our community due by the 20th. I must dust my paintbrushes off!
On top of all that we will have an Oakfield stall at the Eco Baby and Toddler Show at St Barnanbas Hall in Dulwich Village tomorrow so do pop along and say hi!
Have lovely weekends all,
Moyra Thompson

CRAZY HAIR DAY - Friday 13th May
Spanish Trip
Photos from Mrs Diaz of just some of the exciting things they got up to in Southern Spain:
- The bull ring of El Puerto de Santa Maria
- Afternoon at the beach
- Visit to San Marcos Castle
- La Torre Tavira

I feel incredibly proud of the children's behaviour and how engaged they were in all the activities.
