Window An artefact

Window

Obstruct - Obscure - Curiosity - Invite - Connect - Illuminate

Windows form an essential part of architecture. They can also form a metaphor for human interaction. Windows can obstruct, obscure and illuminate, They generate curiosity connectiing the inside to the outside. They activiate our visual and tactile senses...

The Colour Palette

The Intent

I intend to explore a contemporary textile landscape through the lens of sustainability and materiality. I will take inspiration from the concept of windows as architecture and as a metaphor for human activity. I will explore the use of bioplastics, textile waste and knit techniques to create an artefact that invites visual and tactile responses though sight and touch. I will explore knit through materials and techniques that focus on openings and tension changes. I aim to explore the use of waste materials and bio materials to create a contemporary textile artefact.
