TAMIU students who were enrolled for the Summer or Fall 2021 semesters and have an outstanding TAMIU student account balance will find that it has been erased and they are debt-free. These are balances owed to the University and do not include loans owed to third parties.
- We project that we’ll be able to help 288 students to the tune of approximately $352,437. This “Fresh Start 2.0” is a second offering of a previous program that wiped away over $1 million in outstanding student account balances from Spring/Summer/Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 for over 700 students. That program and this new offering are supported by federal funding through CARES, CRRSA, and ARP Acts designed to help students affected COVID-19. We hope this encourages students to complete their degree journey. Here’s more.
- As you are also probably aware, TAMIU and its 11 fellow Texas A&M System campuses will NOT be increasing tuition for the Fall 2022 semester. All A&M campuses fully realize that the struggles of moving toward recovery from the Pandemic are being compounded by the multiple impacts of rising inflation. Find out more.
- Registration for Summer and Fall classes continues. Use our new TAMIU Fund$Finder, a search tool that helps students find scholarships on and off-campus is available. Details are available at go.tamiu.edu/fundSfinder
- TAMIU is the recent recipient of a National Science Foundation Award totaling $248,180. This is for the research endeavor, “LEAPS-MPS: Fast and Efficient Novel Algorithms for MHD Flow Ensembles," led by Dr. Muhammed Mohebujjaman, principal investigator and TAMIU assistant professor of Mathematics. It provides opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate student training, including work on both analysis and numerical computations. We believe it will have a tremendous impact on TAMIU’s mathematics, engineering and physics programs and congratulation Dr. Mohebujjaman.

TAMIU Shares News of 'Fresh Start 2.0' Erase Debt Initiative Providing $352,437 for Students
This week, TAMIU students who were enrolled for the Summer or Fall 2021 semesters and have an outstanding TAMIU student account balance will find that it has been erased and they are debt-free. These are balances owed to the University and do not include loans owed to third parties. Known as “Fresh Start 2.0,” it’s a second offering of a previous program that wiped away over $1 million in outstanding student account balances.
"Fresh Start 2.0 enables us to eliminate qualified students’ TAMIU student account balances so that they can return to their studies debt-free and worry-free. We project that we’ll help 288 students to the tune of approximately $352,437. With no business office hold, these students can continue their degree pursuit."

Fresh Start 2-eligible students will be notified of their TAMIU debt-free status via their Dusty email account beginning Monday, June 13, 2022. Students can verify their new status online via the University’s Uconnect portal, choosing “Pay My Bill,” then selecting “My Account.”
TAMIU Registration for Summer, Fall 2022 Underway
The last day to register for Summer Session II and Summer Subterm II is July 11. Late registration for Summer Session III ends June 15. Late registration for Fall continues through Friday, Aug. 26.

- Prospective TAMIU students can visit the Future Dustdevil Hub, go.tamiu.edu/dustdevilhub, a digital resource center for future TAMIU students and parents to learn about incoming student admissions, registration procedures and access How-To videos.
- The Registration Hub, https://www.tamiu.edu/reghub, offers insight into Registration with content, guides and resources specific to undergraduate and graduate students. It is designed in concert with both undergraduate and graduate advisors to provide students information on the registration process. It addresses issues like advising and holds, and includes a dynamic FAQ with answers and contacts.
- TAMIU students can access a universe of scholarships available to them in the palm of their hand. With a smartphone, students can now access thousands of relevant scholarships through "TAMIUFund$Finder," a search tool that helps students find scholarships on and off-campus. To begin, students need only visit go.tamiu.edu/fundSfinder

Marking Our Past, Signaling Our Future: TAMIU Entrance Pylon Removal Begins
The Texas A&M International University Entrance Pylon, a long-familiar campus fixture capped by an iconic globe, has served as a welcoming beacon to TAMIU for the past 27 years. It has marked our past and now signals our future. In partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Laredo, this area now becomes part of Laredo’s dynamic growth with the conversion of Loop 20 into Laredo’s second interstate highway, IH-69 West. The University is proud to help lead this catalytic change. Elements of the pylon are being retained and will become part of the campus’ continued experience, welcoming new generations to TAMIU.
TAMIU Athletics Update
TAMIU is a member of the Lone Star Conference and competes in 11 sports: volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, softball, baseball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's golf.
