Volume 9 Enrichment and Review

This volume is all about ADVENTURE.

Challenge 1

Explore your world! Create a bird's eye view map of a room in your house or your yard. Hide a "treasure" somewhere, and write out directions for someone else to find the treasure using your map. Find directions at the link below, or create it your own way.

Challenge 2

Explore another location in the world! Go to the link below and choose a new location to virtually explore.

As you travel throughout your destination, look closely at the details. What do you SEE? What do you THINK? What do you WONDER?

Challenge 3

Read the book Weslandia by Paul Fleischman. It's about a boy who creates his own world.

If you created your own world, what would it be like? Write about it. Add visuals if you'd like!

Challenge 4

Explore music and dance from West Africa! Check out the videos, and play/dance along. After dancing (or watching), cool down by reflecting on your experience.

What are some of the special characteristics of West African drums? What kind of movement is special to African dance?

Take some time to write down special characteristics you noticed.
