This week the children have really developed their understanding of people who help us. We used our imagination to help a fictional character. Mrs Branson was the adult in role, as an elderly man called Mr Abdullah. He had fallen and broken his hip. We realised that we needed staff training to advise him. We watched ‘Operation Ouch’ and then learnt how to contact the emergency services and also how to take care of our friends. It was lovely to see the class working so well together. We made phones, rang 999 and wrote help using our phonics.
Children in need this week. We learnt about the charity, as well as using our fine motor skills to decorate PUDSEY bear pictures with spots as well as making spotty biscuits. Maria was 5 and brought in a delicious cake. We also played in the big yard, we are all much more adventurous and skilled at using the large equipment.
Lots of opportunities for maths week with adult lead activities as well as maths in the environment. It is great to hear the class becoming more confident at counting accurately as well as beginning to explain how they have reached an answer.
The creating are was really busy this week. The children have been designing hospitals, surgeries and emergency vehicles. Whilst doing this they were working collaboratively, reinforcing 2d shape names as well as their cutting and snipping skills. The new vocabulary has been excellent. Well done.
Thank you for your continued support, it was lovely seeing you all for the Read, Write inc session.
