Harris and Donovan Named Semanik Award Winners

Seniors Karson Harris (Women's Lacrosse) and Chris Donovan (Men's Soccer) were named the recipients of the 2022 Mary and John Semanik Awards as Drexel's top female and male senior student-athletes.

A two-time All-American, Harris graduated as the Dragons single-season and career leader in goals scored. The CAA men's soccer and Philadelphia Soccer Six Player of the Year, Donovan earned Academic All-America honors and was drafted in the third round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Squash Standouts Earn All-America Honors, Receive MASC Awards

The Drexel squash teams combined to place five players on All-America Teams. Alina Bushma and Matias Knudsen garnered First Team honors and Haris Qasim, Lucas Rousselet and Karina Tyma were named to the Second Team. The five combined All-Americans are the most in a single season in program history.

Members of the squads also earned significant honors from the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference. Tyma was honored as the MASC Women's Player of the Year, Qasim was named Men's Co-Rookie of the Year and John White received Women’s Coach of the Year honors.

Harris, Bennett Earn Women's Lacrosse All-America Honors

Karson Harris and Zoe Bennett were named Honorable Mention All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine. Harris broke her own single-season record with 62 goals and concluded her career as Drexel's all-time leader with 211 goals and 351 draw controls. Bennett finished second in the nation in saves (204) and 13th in save percentage (49.3). Her 695 career saves are third on the Dragons' all-time list.

Donovan Garners Player of the Year Honors; Selected in MLS SuperDraft

Chris Donovan closed out a standout career by being named the CAA Men's Soccer and Philadelphia Soccer Six Chris Jones Player of the Year. He finished his final season at Drexel with 12 goals, two assists, and 26 points. The First Team All-CAA pick was also named to the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region First Team. He became just the second player in program history to be drafted in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft (68th overall / Columbus) and made his debut with the Philadelphia Union in June.

Mulcahy Named CAA Offensive Player of the Year

Jack Mulcahy was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year. The midfielder led the CAA in assists per game and ranked seventh in points per game. He ended the season with 19 goals, 25 assists and 44 points.

Mallon Named CAA Women's Basketball Coach of the Year

Amy Mallon was named the CAA Women's Basketball Coach of the Year after guiding the Dragons to a school-best 28-6 record, the CAA regular season title and a trip to the conference title game. The women reached the postseason advancing to the Sweet 16 of the WNIT. Overall the team ranked among the national leaders in points per game allowed, fewest turnovers per game and assist-to-turnover ratio.

Williams, Juric Earn CAA Men's Basketball Awards

Men's Basketball took home two of the Colonial Athletic Association's top honors, as Amari Williams was named Defensive Player of the Year and Matey Juric was the recipient of the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award.

A Third Team All-CAA selection, Williams averaged 9.7 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting .527 from the field. He led the CAA in blocked shots and ranked third in rebounding. Juric, who has a 3.98 grade-point average in biological sciences, was honored for his efforts both on and off the court.

Gianni Named CAA Co-Rookie Swimmer of the Year

Alessio Gianni was named the CAA's Co-Men's Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Year. He won gold in the 200 free and silver in the 500 free at the CAA championships and finished sixth in the 200 back at the National Invitation Tournament. He is the Dragons' first Rookie Swimmer of the Year since 2019.

Best of Blue and Gold

Male Performance of the Year: Mickey O'Malley (Wrestling), EIWA Champion at 174 lbs.

Female Performance of the Year: Alina Bushma (Women’s Squash), Came from two games down to win as the Dragons upset #2 Trinity and advanced to the national championship match.

Play of the Year: Allison Drake (Women's Lacrosse), Game-winning overtime goal in the CAA Championship.

Teams of the Year: Men's Rowing / Women's Squash

I am A Dragon Award: Maura Hendrixson (Women's Basketball)

Calvin Hicks Spirit Award: Laura White

SAAC Service Award: Kristi DiMeo (Softball)

Dragon Cup: Men's Basketball and Softball

BSAU Impact Award: Kelsi Lidge

Spirit Team Performers of the Year: Amanda Fields, Evan Sykes and Meghan Wickersham

National Strength and Conditioning Association All-Americans: Natalie Cleri, Brennan Greenwald, Allison Drake and Noel Heaton
