As we end Autumn Term of 2021/2022 I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your support over the last few months. Returning to ‘normal’ school was a change for many of our pupils but due to the positive home school links it has been a smooth journey and one we have thoroughly enjoyed. Again, as the government restrictions changed in December you have supported the adaptions made in school to heighten the safety of all, your understanding in this matter has been greatly appreciated.
Autumn Term has been fantastic, each and everyone of our pupils has made us proud in one way or another. Either through their efforts in learning, their charisma around school or their joyful spirit as we have entered the festive month of December.
We hope this newsletter showcases the wonderful events, experiences and learning that has taken place this month and that you enjoy browsing through and chatting to your children about the content.
Wishing you all a safe and Merry Christmas

Christmas at Mapplewell primary school
Nativity
It was an absolute pleasure to invite parents / carers back into school this December to watch their children perform in their class nativities. The children were extremely proud of their performances, as were we, and it was so lovely to hear the positive feedback from parents / carers afterwards.
Key Stage 2 Christmas songs
KS1 Recorders
Christmas Tree Festival
Our handmade Christmas decorations took pride of place at St John’s Church, where families took pleasure in viewing.
Christingle
Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions families were unable to come into school to see our Christingle Service. It was a beautiful assembly and the true meaning to Christmas was celebrated well. We hope families enjoy watching snippets of this on Seesaw.
Christmas Dinner and parties
Every child got into the party spirit over the last week of term where they joined in with class parties and devoured our delicious Christmas dinner.
Christmas Kindness
This year we have taken part in many fundraising activities to help support charities around us. Your kindness and generosity has astounded us - thank you!
Reading for pleasure continues…
Community light switch on
What a wonderful atmosphere there was in the village, turning on the Christmas Tree lights and singing Christmas songs
Handmade decorations to treasure at home
We hope you enjoy the decorations your children made for you this year.
